The start of my life was a rollercoaster of having to deal with a rare disorder called crouzons syndrome which was discovered at the age of five. From that day I had to learn to cope with not only the effect it had on me as a young child, but the world not understanding this rare disorder. I had to learn how to be strong and fit in.
I went through life being a positive and confident person growing up knowing I had this rare disorder but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
I knew there were two options: either be depressed about it or continue my life with a positive belief.
Growing up in Surrey was difficult in the early ’90s. Being part of an ethnic minority group, I struggled to fit in. Not only did I have to deal with my syndrome, but I also had to deal with being a minority in an area I had to call home.
I learnt that I was good at giving out advice due to being a positive person. Without realising that my voice is powerful and that I could use it to help others. But I was stuck in and out of engineering jobs from gas to water tech knowing I had more to offer.
And that’s when it hit me I want to become a life coach/therapist so I began searching and found it near on impossible to find the right course good for money or the help to direct me to the right information I needed.
That’s when I found an NLP training course which fitted right in. People Building is a good team with a great NLP Trainer, Gemma Bailey who helped me successfully obtain my qualification.
Overcoming challenges all my life
I can name a few personal challenges that have shaped my future, as I’m sure you can too. One that sticks with me and was a life changer, was when I was working for a water company doing a night shift when I struck my eye on a blunt object which left me unconscious for several minutes.
Luckily I had a work colleague with me who nursed me and got me to the hospital where I underwent surgery on my right eye. As I was going through my recovery stage I was told I may not get my slight back which left me in a great depression.
It felt like my world has just swallowed me whole and there was no way out.
Many doctors told me the same news month after month leaving me to believe that they were right and I gave up hope.
Then, the lockdown happened, causing me to feel more isolated and with no help at all.
This is when I stumbled across a motivational speaker by the name of Les Brown. His words lifted me so much that I wanted to give that same impact on others.
With that positive energy, I resurrected and became a new person and started my new journey as a life coach/therapist in my hometown of Surrey.
